Test Engineer
Department: Engineering / Quality Assurance Location: Accra / Hybrid Employment type: Full-time
About the Role
We are seeking a Test Engineer to ensure product quality through automated testing and close collaboration with the engineering team. You will design and execute tests to identify issues early, build automated checks that remain stable as we ship, and integrate quality assurance into the delivery pipeline rather than treating it as a final gate. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will write tests as code. It is not focused on business UAT coordination or user sign-off.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, write, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Build and maintain automated test suites for web, API, and/or mobile applications.
- Identify, document, and track defects clearly, collaborating with developers for resolution.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality checks run with every change.
- Perform performance, load, and security testing as appropriate.
- Validate that features meet functional requirements and acceptance criteria prior to release.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to test strategy, tooling, and the continuous improvement of QA engineering practices.
- Maintain clear documentation of test coverage, results, and known issues.
- Partner with developers to implement a 'shift-left' testing approach. Business UAT cycles and user sign-off are managed by UAT Support, not this role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance engineering.
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools/frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar).
- Experience testing APIs (e.g., Postman, REST-assured) and writing automated API tests.
- Working knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java).
- Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and version control (Git).
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies, the software development lifecycle, and QA best practices.
