Job Purpose
The Manufacturing Production Supervisor is responsible for reviewing production orders, ensuring production schedules are met, organizing assigned work, supervising employees, and supporting daily operations. This role anticipates and resolves production and personnel issues to minimize their impact on operations, maintains good housekeeping, and enforces safe work practices. The Production Manager will work with the General Manager to build and manage the second shift.
Supervisor Responsibilities
- Supervise production employees and daily department operations.
- Establish work schedules and support hiring activities to meet production goals.
- Assign employees to appropriate positions to improve productivity.
- Develop training schedules for new employees and evaluate employee performance.
- Maintain employee attendance and performance records.
- Administer and document disciplinary actions.
- Prepare production, safety, and other reports for upper management.
- Establish department objectives and goals that support business targets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Production and Continuous Improvement Responsibilities
- Manage the production schedule and adjust priorities as needed.
- Implement continuous improvement activities, including quality improvement teams, to reduce scrap and increase productivity.
- Develop, maintain, and adjust job routers.
- Maintain a quality-first approach while supporting production objectives.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5–10 years of industry or related experience.
- At least 2 years of management experience.
- Hands-on factory-floor management experience.
- Hazwopper training and a forklift license required.
- CEF certification preferred.
- Hazardous waste training preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct employees toward production goals.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to provide clear instructions.
- Familiarity with plating specifications and the company specification library.
- Working knowledge of plating process characteristics and limitations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Familiarity with departmental production methods and machinery.
- Ability to motivate, influence, and train employees.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, active listening, and decision-making skills.
- Professional interaction with customers and coworkers.
- Outstanding customer service skills and composure in stressful situations.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously and work independently.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Working Conditions
- On-site, hands-on manufacturing and shop-floor environment.
- Occasional exposure to noise, dust, odors, fumes, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and heat.
- Frequent exposure to wet or humid conditions from heated cleaning and plating tanks containing caustic and acidic solutions.
- High noise levels; hearing protection is required in the plant.
- Required safety equipment must be worn as needed on the shop floor.
- Steel-toed boots and appropriate work clothing are required.
- Use of computers and standard office equipment is expected.
