Job Summary
We are seeking a CNC Swiss Screw Setup Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. This role involves setting up and operating Swiss-style CNC machines to produce small, high-precision components for business-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Swiss-type lathes, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently manage setups, troubleshoot issues, and ensure consistent part quality in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Swiss-style CNC machines to manufacture precision components.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and setup sheets to ensure accurate machining and part conformance.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets for each job.
- Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve setup and machining issues independently.
- Document setup procedures and best practices for repeatability and training purposes.
- Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality personnel to optimize machining strategies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and proactively report mechanical issues.
- Mentor and support junior machinists and operators as needed.
- Participate in Lean, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of CNC machining experience, including at least 3 years operating and setting up Swiss-style CNC machines.
- Strong experience with Citizen, Nakamura, Star, or Tsugami machines.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of CNC controls, tooling, and machining principles.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and process control.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of setup and production outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as needed.
