About the role

We are seeking experienced software engineers, ideally at a tech lead level, who are familiar with high-quality public GitHub repositories. This hands-on engineering role involves development environment automation, issue triage, and evaluating test coverage and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries.
  • Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and development environments.
  • Evaluate unit test coverage and quality.
  • Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios.
  • Collaborate with researchers to identify repositories and issues that challenge LLMs.

Required skills

  • At least 2 years of overall experience.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript.
  • Proficiency with Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup.
  • Ability to understand and navigate complex codebases.
  • Comfort running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally.
  • Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is a plus.

Nice to have

  • Previous participation in LLM research or evaluation projects.
  • Experience building or testing developer tools or automation agents.

Availability and commitment

Availability requirements are inconsistent: one section states a minimum of 4 hours per day and 40 hours per week, while another specifies 8 hours per day. Both specify 4 hours of overlap with PST. Please confirm the daily and weekly commitment before applying.

Compensation and engagement

  • $25 per approved task; average handling time is 45–60 minutes per task.
  • Short-term contractor assignment; no medical or paid leave.
  • Assessment-based evaluation, taking approximately 75 minutes.
  • Partner fee: $150.

Work environment

Fully remote work on projects involving AI and LLM evaluation.
