Role Overview

As a Corporate Tax Director at Grant Thornton, you will join the Corporate Tax Solutions team, supporting business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting projects, including tax provision preparation and audit support. You will manage engagements for multiple clients. This role offers a pathway to Partner or Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise multiple client service teams and plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects across a variety of industries.
  • Provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; design and implement tax planning strategies while managing engagements within budget.
  • Support firm growth by leveraging your network and achieving sales and revenue targets, including selling services to existing and prospective clients.
  • Participate in business development activities and professional and community events to enhance your and the firm's brand.
  • Manage engagement fundamentals, including realization, utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, and expenses.
  • Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff; assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.
  • Conduct primary and secondary reviews of complex tax returns and ASC 740 income tax provision engagements.
  • Research and consult on a range of tax matters.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the client service team, building strong client relationships.
  • Attend professional development and training, and adhere to high professional standards and strict client confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a Master's in Taxation, LLM in Taxation, or JD is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience, ideally 7 years.
  • CPA or JD with an active law license required.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in corporate income tax and strong ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes skills.
  • Proficiency in U.S. GAAP and corporate income tax laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of statutory income tax compliance and consulting, including state and local income taxes, international taxation, and transfer pricing.
  • Excellent client service, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • OneSource Tax Provision experience preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
