As a Corporate Tax Manager, you’ll be a member of our corporate tax practice, working on business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting projects, including tax provision preparation or audit support. The Corporate Tax Solutions team generally has the primary tax relationship with clients. You’ll help manage engagements for multiple clients in your service line, with the resources and support to help you excel.
You’ll collaborate with team members and specialists across our tax practice, including our Washington National Tax Office (WNTO), to support clients’ tax functions. From day one, you’ll have access to tools, technology, training, and team support to produce quality work and grow in the role.
Your day-to-day may include
- Managing client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects while managing budgets.
- Supervising, training, and mentoring senior associates, associates, and interns; assessing staff performance for engagement reviews; and serving as the in-charge professional as needed.
- Identifying opportunities to offer services to existing and prospective clients.
- Reviewing staff-prepared tax returns and recommending improvements for accuracy and tax savings opportunities.
- Conducting primary reviews of ASC 740 income tax provision engagements.
- Researching and consulting on tax matters, and using tax-related software to prepare and process returns.
- Responding to inquiries from the IRS, state agencies, and other tax authorities.
- Maintaining strong client relationships and working with client management and staff to gather information and perform tax services.
- Learning about clients’ operations, processes, and business objectives and applying that knowledge to engagements.
- Attending professional development and training sessions.
- Maintaining high professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Four to seven years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
- CPA or JD with an active law license required.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in corporate income tax and strong ASC 740 accounting for income taxes skills.
- Strong analytical, technical, and tax accounting and technology skills, including proficiency in US GAAP and corporate income tax laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of broad-based statutory income tax compliance and consulting, including state and local income taxes, taxation of international activity, and transfer pricing.
- Strong client service, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Experience with OneSource Tax Provision preferred.
- Teamwork, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel as needed.
