Job Summary

This role assists credentialed providers with all diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures within cardiac and vascular laboratory environments. The Cardiac Interventional Radiographer promotes teamwork and upholds the organization's mission and philosophy goals, working under the direct supervision of a credentialed provider.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor radiation safety and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Perform quality assurance for X-ray equipment and protective gear, troubleshoot issues, and initiate service calls.
• Assist the hospital radiation safety officer with surveys and compliance documentation for Cardiac and Vascular Laboratories (CVLs).
• Serve as scrub, monitor/recorder, and X-ray technician for all assigned CVL procedures.
• Prepare and position patients for invasive procedures, assist with cardiovascular tests, and record hemodynamic activity.
• Obtain hemostasis at arterial and venous access sites post-procedure, including sheath removal and management of hemostatic devices.
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot all procedural equipment.
• Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms, alerting providers and team members as per protocol.
• Administer intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under direct physician supervision.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields using aseptic technique, supporting the physician in the sterile field as a scrub.
• Prepare, maintain, and operate hemodynamic and monitoring equipment.
• Perform basic and advanced life support, including defibrillation, when required.
• Maintain proficiency in point-of-care tests on laboratory equipment (e.g., ACT, oxygen saturations, glucose, ABG).
• Provide patient education regarding procedures.
• Respond to on-call requests within 30 minutes for after-hours callbacks.
• Restock supplies, maintain a clean work area, and assist with patient transportation.
