About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to assist credentialed providers with diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures in our cardiac and vascular laboratories. This role is crucial in promoting teamwork and upholding KPNW's mission and philosophy. You will work under the direct supervision of a credentialed provider.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as scrub assistant or monitor/recorder for cardiology and radiology studies.
  • Prepare and position patients for invasive procedures.
  • Assist with cardiovascular tests and record patients' hemodynamic activity using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, and laboratory instruments.
  • Manage patient arterial and venous access sites post-procedure, including sheath removal and safe management of hemostatic devices.
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump when required.
  • Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms, alerting the credentialed provider and other team members during procedures according to protocol.
  • Administer intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under the direct supervision of the physician.
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field using aseptic technique for testing.
  • Prepare, maintain, and operate hemodynamic and monitoring equipment.
  • Initiate and maintain IV access with appropriate training and certification.
  • Utilize IVUS and Site Rite ultrasound machines.
  • Perform basic and advanced life support, including defibrillation, when required.
  • Maintain proficiency in performing point-of-care tests on lab equipment, such as activated clotting time (ACT), oxygen saturations, and arterial blood gases (ABG).
  • Educate patients about procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, responding on-site within 30 minutes of being called.
  • Restock supplies, maintain a clean work area, and manage documentation.
  • Actively perform quality assurance functions, troubleshoot equipment problems, and initiate vendor service calls.
  • Assist with patient transportation.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited invasive cardiovascular technologist training program; OR
  • Two (2) years of education in an allied health science (e.g., nursing, respiratory therapy, radiographic technology, emergency medicine technology) with at least two (2) years of recent, comparable on-the-job training in an Interventional Cath Lab Environment.
  • One of the following certifications obtained within 12 months of hire:
    • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – Vascular Interventional Radiography
    • ARRT – Cardiac Interventional Radiography
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to comply with a 30-minute call-back requirement for emergencies when on call.
  • Ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias.
  • Analytical skills to monitor and assess patient conditions and perform hemodynamic calculations for heart disease diagnosis.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of recent interventional cath lab experience.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES).
