Position Overview

Design private subdivision and land development projects across residential, retail, commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Work independently on smaller projects and support Senior Designers and Project Managers on larger projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare sketch plans, site plans, grading plans, utility plans, roadway plans, and utility profile plans.
  • Support layout and design development throughout the project lifecycle, including subdivision and land development plan packages.
  • Prepare technical drawings, reports, and submissions, and support project documentation and submission packages.
  • Review zoning ordinances, subdivision and land development regulations, stormwater management requirements, and other municipal and agency requirements affecting design.
  • Support stormwater management design, stormwater calculations, and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Meet regularly with Project Managers to coordinate goals, schedules, and technical requirements, and provide updates on assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Approximately 2–3 years of progressive experience in private subdivision and land development design, including hands-on civil engineering design.
  • Experience preparing site, grading, utility, or roadway plans.
  • Fundamental understanding of stormwater management and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong time-management, written communication, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with Project Managers and Senior Designers.

Strongly Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) designation.
  • Experience with Southeastern Pennsylvania land development projects, subdivision and land development submissions, zoning and municipal ordinance review, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Experience supporting projects from concept through permitting and approval.
  • Working knowledge of Hydroflow, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
