Our Healthcare team is looking for an Associate, Mechanical Engineering Lead to join our multi-disciplinary team anchored in Houston. Our company is known for designing innovative and sustainable solutions for clients throughout the United States and globally. Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary design projects, specifically within our Healthcare business, acting as Project Manager and Mechanical Lead. Coordinate with multiple disciplines and project managers to deliver comprehensive and coordinated design deliverables. Ensure quality standards, commercial metrics, and client relations are met.
- Potentially lead the Houston mechanical team as part of a wider regional discipline team network, including acting as a hiring manager for mid-level staff.
- Assist, supervise, and mentor team members, providing timely feedback and recognition. Foster an inclusive environment that inspires growth and career development for all team members.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems design, including airside systems, heating and cooling hydronic plant systems, and specialty exhaust systems.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentation materials, incorporating sustainable design methods.
- Represent our company and communicate project goals and financials to clients.
- Maintain strong client relationships to ensure project delivery and repeat business. Coordinate and represent project teams with clients. Collaborate with the business leadership team to anticipate and support future business development strategies.
- Oversee the preparation of proposals and bid submissions, and negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders and code officials to deliver integrated projects through construction.
- Participate in local Professional Associations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
- Professional Engineering License in the US required.
- 12+ years of professional experience designing building HVAC systems, including airside and hydronic system components, with significant experience in healthcare projects. For healthcare work, a strong focus on inpatient critical care facilities (e.g., academic medical centers, specialty care centers, community inpatient hospitals) is expected.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including ASHRAE, HIH, LEED (energy efficiency and indoor quality), and NFPA.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary projects and managing complex, large-scale client relationships.
- Demonstrated track record of successful business development, commercial foresight, and building and managing client relationships.
- Experienced, dynamic, and engaging leader with a strong track record of leading and managing teams. Serve as an aspirational role model for career development.
- Ability to facilitate connections between external stakeholders and internal disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- LEED Accreditation or WELL Certification.
- Experience in engineering analysis and energy modeling, including whole building energy analysis, façade thermal analysis, and airflow modeling.
