Insurance Defense Attorney — Western Pennsylvania (Remote)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced insurance defense attorney located in Western Pennsylvania. This remote role is suited to a self-directed attorney with substantial insurance defense experience who can independently manage higher-value and complex matters with minimal supervision.

The attorney will work with another attorney already located in Western Pennsylvania, supporting the firm’s growing regional caseload and helping build a stronger long-term presence in the market.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution, including higher-value and complex litigation
• Develop case strategy and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Handle court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and trial preparation
• Take ownership of significant litigation matters with minimal supervision
• Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, self-insured entities, and corporate clients
• Help expand the firm’s insurance defense presence throughout Western Pennsylvania and build regional relationships

Education & Experience Requirements

Required:

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Active Pennsylvania law license
• Substantial insurance defense litigation experience
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex matters
• Experience handling higher-value litigation
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

Strong Plus:

• Large-loss or high-exposure insurance defense experience
• Trial experience and significant deposition experience
• Experience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entities
• Experience with general liability, automobile liability, premises liability, or trucking and transportation litigation
• Existing relationships with regional insurance carriers, claims professionals, or corporate clients
• Business development experience or a portable book of business

Preferred:

• Deep familiarity with the Western Pennsylvania legal market
• An existing professional network in the region
• An entrepreneurial approach to practice growth

Work Environment

This is a fully remote role. The firm is also open to considering a small group of experienced attorneys, a small established practice, or attorneys or teams with portable business. For the right candidate or group, the role may develop into a broader leadership and practice-building opportunity.
