Position Summary

Lead and mentor a team of engineers in delivering bridge projects from concept through completion. Guide planning efforts, define scope, manage schedules and budgets, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and support successful project delivery.

Serve as a key communicator with stakeholders, proactively manage risks and resources, maintain quality standards, and keep projects on track through clear reporting and leadership.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage projects in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with technical disciplines and subconsultants to develop risk-aware project scopes and fee proposals.
  • Develop project-specific plans, including project management plans and quality management plans.
  • Create and maintain project schedules.
  • Manage subconsultants.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and develop extra-work-order requests and open-end contract task proposals.
  • Communicate project status, updates, and issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in office project financial-status meetings.
  • Build client relationships to understand preferences and requirements and deliver quality projects.
  • Prepare progress reports and review invoices.
  • Develop and lead project-status meetings and presentations.
  • Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with marketing activities, including SMART Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, and interviews.
  • Coordinate and guide technical resources within the project team to support high-quality delivery.
  • Coach and mentor project team members through one-on-one meetings and project debriefs.
  • Lead and manage team members through ongoing performance management, including setting expectations and goals, providing feedback and coaching, and supporting professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • More than 10 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PennDOT project experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with county- and state-level clients.
  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a general office environment approximately 95% of the time. The role is generally sedentary but may require occasional standing and walking. Occasional field work may occur in varying outdoor conditions, and lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
