Buyer / Purchasing Specialist

Position Summary

The Buyer / Purchasing Specialist coordinates material requirements, capacity, and scheduling in a manufacturing environment to meet customer demand while optimizing inventory levels. This role develops production schedules, monitors progress, manages inventory, and collaborates with procurement and logistics teams to prevent shortages and support timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop weekly and monthly production plans and schedules aligned with sales forecasts and customer demand.
• Analyze inventory levels to maintain appropriate stock, reduce excess inventory, and prevent shortages of raw materials and finished goods.
• Use ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, MES, or Oracle to release manufacturing orders and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Coordinate with procurement to align material availability with production schedules.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules in response to maintenance, machine downtime, or changing demand.
• Identify process-improvement opportunities to increase production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve key performance indicators such as on-time delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in buying and purchasing.
• Strong proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, MES, or Oracle.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL.
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proactive problem-solving abilities.
