The Business Developer generates new business by qualifying opportunities and engaging key decision-makers through phone and in-person sales calls. Key Responsibilities
Generate New Business
- Generate an average of two new clients per week.
- Qualify prospects by assessing client needs, budget, and timeline using the Discovery Profile.
- Respond to buying signals by asking the four job-qualifying questions.
- Secure prompt meetings between decision-makers and Employment Specialists.
- Educate decision-makers on the Express process and introduce staffing agreements and new-account paperwork.
- Collaborate with Employment Specialists to keep job orders moving toward fulfillment and identify when sales re-engagement is needed.
Achieve Sales Activity Targets
- Self-generate sales opportunities through networking, referrals, and outbound activities.
- Complete 120 total weekly sales calls, including 100 face-to-face visits.
- Conduct at least 60 weekly decision-maker calls involving two-way business conversations.
- Conduct five strategic appointments per week.
- Document all calls and next steps daily in the automated system.
- Execute the daily sales plan, address objections, and document outcomes in the Results Pipeline Activity tracker.
Manage the Sales Pipeline
- Call on 800–1,000 accounts quarterly.
- Qualify prospects and identify new business opportunities.
- Evaluate weekly sales activity and identify high-potential prospects capable of closing within 90 days.
- Maintain strategic weekly contact with the top 20 target accounts.
Plan and Execute Territory Sales
- Divide the market into four or five divisions based on business potential.
- Assign territories to weekdays and optimize call frequency.
- Plan daily activities around appointments and nearby prospects to maximize field time.
Deliver Value-Added Sales
- Monitor labor-market trends and provide consultative insights.
- Deploy at least one knowledge-based campaign or educational tool per quarter.
- Anticipate account needs, provide solutions, and maintain high account satisfaction.
- Develop existing client relationships and cross-sell Express products and services.
- Participate, with management approval, in a local organization such as a Chamber of Commerce or economic development board.
Collaborate with the Internal Team
- Meet daily with the internal team to share territory plans, opportunities, and inventory information.
- Take Most Placeable Candidate profiles into the field.
- Share leads promptly and pass job orders to Employment Specialists.
- Communicate daily schedules to maintain alignment and focused field time.
Compliance and Professional Development
- Follow Express guidelines and applicable federal and state laws, including FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and FMLA.
- Build staffing-industry expertise through coaching, ride-alongs, and hands-on training.
Supervisory Responsibility
No direct supervisory responsibility.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work primarily away from the local office in office and plant settings.
- Frequent travel with exposure to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions.
- Ability to work effectively under the stress of daily travel, deadlines, commitments, and account issues.
- Valid state driver’s license required.
- Ability to climb stairs and carry marketing materials required.
