The Business Developer generates new business by qualifying opportunities and engaging key decision-makers through phone and in-person sales calls. Success requires confidence in selling essential services, disciplined daily execution, and strong consultative selling skills, including active listening, effective questioning, and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities
- Generate an average of two new clients per week.
- Qualify prospects by assessing client needs, budget, and timeline using the Discovery Profile.
- Respond to buying signals by asking job-qualification questions and securing meetings with Employment Specialists.
- Educate decision-makers on the Express process, staffing agreements, and new-account paperwork.
- Collaborate with Employment Specialists to move job orders toward fulfillment and identify opportunities for sales re-engagement.
- Complete approximately 120 weekly sales calls, including 100 face-to-face visits.
- Conduct at least 60 weekly decision-maker calls and five strategic appointments.
- Document all calls and outcomes in the automated sales system and Results Pipeline Activity tracker.
- Self-generate opportunities through networking, referrals, outbound activities, and local organizations.
- Call on approximately 800–1,000 accounts quarterly and maintain a pipeline of high-potential prospects.
- Manage a Top 20 target-account list through strategic weekly engagement.
- Develop daily territory plans by dividing the market into four or five geographic divisions.
- Use consultative, value-added selling based on labor-market trends and educational campaigns.
- Maintain existing client relationships, identify needs, and cross-sell Express products and services.
- Meet regularly with the internal team to coordinate territory plans, opportunities, candidate profiles, and job orders.
- Follow Express guidelines and applicable federal and state laws, including FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and FMLA.
- Develop staffing-industry knowledge through coaching, ride-alongs, and hands-on training.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Working Conditions and Requirements
- Work is primarily conducted away from the local office in office and plant settings.
- Frequent travel is required, including exposure to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions.
- Ability to work effectively under travel, deadline, and account-related pressures.
- Valid state driver's license required.
- Ability to climb stairs and carry marketing materials required.
