The Business Developer generates new business by qualifying opportunities and engaging key decision-makers through phone and in-person sales calls. Success requires confidence selling essential services, disciplined daily execution, consultative selling skills, active listening, effective questioning, and clear communication. Key Responsibilities

  • Generate an average of two new clients per week.
  • Qualify prospects by assessing client needs, budget, and timeline using the Discovery Profile.
  • Respond to buying signals and ask job-qualifying questions.
  • Secure meetings between decision-makers and Employment Specialists for urgent job-order fulfillment.
  • Educate decision-makers on the Express process and introduce staffing agreements and account paperwork.
  • Collaborate with Employment Specialists to move job orders toward fulfillment and identify sales reengagement opportunities.
  • Complete 120 weekly sales calls, including 100 face-to-face visits.
  • Conduct at least 60 weekly decision-maker calls and five strategic appointments.
  • Document all calls and outcomes in the automated system and maintain next action steps in the sales pipeline.
  • Build and manage a sales action plan covering 800–1,000 accounts quarterly.
  • Identify high-potential prospects capable of closing within 90 days and manage a Top 20 target-account list.
  • Prepare daily territory plans, divide the market into geographic divisions, and optimize call frequency and field time.
  • Provide value-added, consultative sales support based on labor-market trends.
  • Develop client relationships, identify needs, and cross-sell Express products and services.
  • Participate in approved local organizations to build professional relationships and generate leads.
  • Meet daily with the internal team to share territory plans, opportunities, inventory, leads, and job orders.
  • Maintain compliance with Express guidelines and applicable federal and state laws, including FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Build staffing-industry knowledge through coaching, ride-alongs, and hands-on training.

Working Conditions and Requirements

  • Work is conducted primarily away from the local office, in office and plant settings.
  • Frequent travel is required, including exposure to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions.
  • Must work effectively under travel demands, deadlines, commitments, and account-related challenges.
  • Must maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and carry marketing materials.
