Role Overview
Vincennes Community School Corporation in Vincennes, Indiana, is seeking a Director of Facilities Operations to lead an integrated facilities management (IFM) program across eight district buildings. The Director will oversee a team that operates predominantly on swing and night shifts.
This highly visible, hands-on leadership role supports a long-standing partnership with the district. The Director will work closely with the Superintendent and school administrators to provide proactive communication, strong custodial oversight, and coordinated management of maintenance, grounds, and renovation projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead IFM operations across eight school district buildings, ensuring high-quality maintenance, custodial, and grounds services.
- Manage and develop the facilities team while fostering accountability, performance, and engagement.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Superintendent by providing proactive, transparent reporting and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Oversee district-wide renovation and construction projects as the owner's representative.
- Coordinate contractors and vendors.
- Manage the P&L budget and support financial performance, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational and district goals.
- Direct preventive maintenance and reactive repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, utilities, and other skilled trades.
- Manage the hiring, training, and supervision of staff, professionals, and managers.
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Oversee groundskeeping, sports fields, and potentially other operational services, such as logistics, food, security, inventory, mail, and concierge services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of management experience.
- At least five years of relevant functional experience.
- Proven ability to build and sustain excellent client relationships, particularly with senior district leadership.
- Strong project management experience, including renovation and construction oversight as an owner's representative.
- Deep expertise in custodial and maintenance operations, with working knowledge of grounds management and high school sports fields.
- High adaptability and emotional intelligence.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and communicate clearly and confidently.
Work Schedule
This is a daytime management position with occasional nights and weekends, depending on business needs.
