Summary

The Estimator / Project Manager prepares accurate cost estimates and proposals for construction projects and manages projects from award through closeout. This role requires strong technical estimating skills, project management expertise, client communication, and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Estimating Responsibilities

  • Review plans, scopes of work, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Develop proposals covering scope descriptions, pricing, schedules, specifications, and clarifications.
  • Become proficient with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, Excel, company estimating programs, and other industry-specific tools.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.

Project Management Responsibilities

  • Communicate project labor and equipment requirements with the superintendent upon project award.
  • Set up job files and accurately enter cost information into job information sheets.
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams from project start through completion.
  • Track progress, improve productivity, and mitigate risks.
  • Submit timely progress reports and billing.
  • Track scope changes and change orders.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of construction experience in specialty contracting, office, or field environments.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings and takeoff software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building practices, and safety regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in commercial or industrial construction.

Work Environment

This is an office-based role with regular job site visits. The position requires the ability to walk job sites, climb stairs and ladders, and work in varying weather conditions as needed.
