QA/QC Engineer

Flowmingo

Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh

On-site · Full-time

The Role

Flowmingo is seeking a QA/QC Engineer to serve as the final gatekeeper of production quality. You will be the last line of defense before any product reaches our users.

Your primary responsibility will be to determine if a release is truly ready for production. You will advocate for quality, pushing back when the quality bar is not met. This involves deep dives into edge cases, system behavior, regressions, performance risks, and real user impact. In the event of a production issue that should have been caught pre-release, you will lead the quality investigation, identify root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

We are looking for an individual who thinks like an owner, tests with engineering rigor, and treats production quality as a non-negotiable standard.

What You Will Own

Production Release Gatekeeping

  • Own the final QA/QC sign-off for all production releases.
  • Act as the quality gatekeeper, ensuring only stable and verified changes are approved for deployment.
  • Confidently push back on releases that do not meet the required quality threshold.
  • Define and consistently enforce release readiness criteria across teams.
  • Validate hotfixes, urgent patches, and rollback readiness during incidents.

Deep Technical Testing

  • Design and execute comprehensive test strategies across frontend, backend, API, database, and integration layers.
  • Develop detailed test cases covering happy paths, edge cases, failure modes, and regression risks.
  • Perform end-to-end validation of core user journeys, with a focus on areas involving AI, scoring logic, video flows, and recruiter-facing workflows.
  • Review Pull Requests (PRs), requirements, and technical changes with a quality-first mindset to identify potential issues early.
  • Thoroughly verify bug fixes, investigating beyond the surface level to understand root causes and their impact on related flows.

Automation & Quality Engineering

  • Build and maintain scalable automated test suites for regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Increase test coverage strategically without compromising product velocity.
  • Integrate automated quality checks into CI/CD pipelines for earlier and more reliable issue detection.
  • Leverage modern AI tools to accelerate test generation, coverage analysis, bug reproduction, log review, and other quality workflows.
  • Continuously improve QA productivity through enhanced tooling, smarter automation, and faster feedback loops.

Performance, Load & Reliability Validation

  • Design and execute stress, load, and performance tests for critical product flows.
  • Identify bottlenecks, reliability risks, concurrency issues, and degradation points before they impact users.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to validate stability under scale, particularly for high-volume workflows and production-like scenarios.
  • Test resilience under real-world conditions, including unstable networks, partial failures, and recovery behaviors.

Production Accountability & Continuous Improvement

  • Own the quality feedback loop from staging to production.
  • Lead defect analysis, root-cause reviews, and the development of preventive action plans for production defects.
  • Track recurring quality issues and drive permanent solutions.
  • Elevate testing discipline, release quality, and engineering accountability throughout the company.
  • Contribute to building a culture where quality is engineered early and verified rigorously before launch.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in QA, QC, SDET, or quality engineering roles within software product development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with both manual testing and test automation.
  • Solid understanding of API testing, integration testing, regression testing, end-to-end testing, and production release validation.
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent.
  • Experience testing backend services, APIs, databases, and asynchronous workflows.
  • Familiarity with performance and load testing tools such as k6, JMeter, Locust, or similar.
  • Ability to read logs, inspect payloads, analyze system behavior, and collaborate deeply with engineers on technical root causes.
  • Comfort reviewing PRs, requirements, and release candidates with an engineering mindset.
  • High sense of ownership, strong judgment, and the confidence to block releases when quality standards are not met.
  • A keen eye for detail, balanced with an understanding of business impact and user experience.

Strong Plus If You Have

  • Experience testing AI products, LLM-driven workflows, scoring systems, or intelligent automation features.
  • Experience with CI/CD quality gates and release pipelines.
  • Experience in fast-moving startup environments with frequent releases and high quality standards.
  • Experience with observability tools, incident reviews, or post-release quality analysis.
  • Familiarity with HRTech, SaaS, workflow systems, or multi-sided platforms.

Why This Role is Different

At Flowmingo, production quality is a business-critical function, not merely a support role.

You will protect the reliability of the platform trusted by recruiters and candidates. You will have the authority to halt substandard releases, the responsibility to uphold the production bar, and the opportunity to shape a quality system that scales with the company.

  • Compensation: 25–35M VND/month (Gross), commensurate with experience, technical depth, and ownership of production quality.
  • Massive Scale: We are building a platform for millions of candidates in the fastest-growing economies, addressing the needs of those currently underserved by the hiring system.
  • Real Technical Challenges: You will encounter unique challenges related to bandwidth, device latency, and high concurrency, distinct from typical SaaS roles.
  • Elite Peers: Collaborate with team members from top institutions (e.g., YC, UPenn, NYU).
  • High Impact / Low Bureaucracy: As part of a lean team, you will ship features used by thousands of candidates daily, with minimal bureaucratic overhead.
  • YC Network: As an early hire at a Y Combinator startup, you gain access to a powerful global startup network.

Application Process

We prioritize an efficient application process:

  1. CV Review: We seek builders, not just maintainers.
  2. Technical Screen: A practical discussion focused on architecture and problem-solving (no arbitrary whiteboard challenges).
  3. Culture Fit: An opportunity to meet the founders.
