About the Role

We're looking for a Frontend Engineer to build fast, intuitive, and accessible interfaces for Gradely's learning platform. You'll work closely with our product, design, and backend teams to ship features used daily by students, teachers, and parents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces for Gradely's web and/or mobile applications.
  • Translate design and product requirements into clean, reusable UI components.
  • Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs, including REST and GraphQL.
  • Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and cross-browser and device compatibility.
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
  • Collaborate with designers to maintain and evolve a consistent design system.
  • Identify and fix bugs, performance bottlenecks, and usability issues.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation.
  • Participate in sprint planning and contribute to technical decisions as the platform scales.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience building frontend applications in production.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern framework such as React, Next.js, or Vue.
  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive, mobile-first design.
  • Experience consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs and handling application state with tools such as Redux, Zustand, or the Context API.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Understanding of web performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility best practices.
  • Experience with AI systems, such as integrating LLM or AI APIs, building conversational features, or working with AI-driven user interfaces.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in edtech, fintech, or other consumer products at scale.
  • Experience with component libraries and design systems, such as Tailwind CSS, ShimmerUI, or Material UI.
  • Exposure to mobile development with React Native or PWA development.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
