Hair Stylist

An established salon in downtown Rutherford, New Jersey, is seeking an experienced, client-focused stylist with an active clientele who wants to grow in a professional salon environment. The salon offers precision haircuts, dimensional color, balayage, blonding, styling, smoothing treatments, extensions, and men’s grooming.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality haircuts, styling, coloring, and other professional services within your areas of expertise.
• Maintain and grow your client book through excellent service, consistent results, and strong consultations.
• Discuss clients’ hair goals, preferences, maintenance needs, and suitable services.
• Provide services such as precision cuts, dimensional color, balayage, highlights, blowouts, and treatments, based on your training and capabilities.
• Build repeat business through rebooking, follow-ups, referrals, and strong client relationships.
• Maintain accurate client records, service notes, color formulas, and appointment information.
• Manage appointments professionally and communicate scheduling changes promptly.
• Keep your workstation clean and organized, and follow sanitation, safety, and salon procedures.
• Collaborate with salon management and colleagues to deliver an excellent client experience.

Required Qualifications

• Current New Jersey cosmetology or hairstylist license appropriate for the services performed.
• Professional salon experience and strong technical skills in your core specialties.
• An active, established clientele with repeat customers and demonstrated retention.
• Excellent consultation, communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
• A professional portfolio, social media page, or other examples of your work.
• Professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and a commitment to quality and sanitation.
• Ability to work on-site in Rutherford, New Jersey.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialization in balayage, blonding, dimensional or corrective color, precision cutting, or advanced styling.
• Experience with smoothing treatments, extensions, or men’s grooming, depending on your specialty.
• A strong local professional network and a track record of client referrals.
