About the Role
Our Houston office is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer with healthcare experience to join our growing team. This Houston-based role combines technical leadership, business development, and project delivery. The successful candidate will partner with the leadership team to grow the Houston healthcare business, lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, and deliver sustainable, forward-thinking healthcare designs.
This position is a key member of the Texas leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the design and execution of healthcare projects, ensuring alignment with client goals, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients to support repeat business and identify new opportunities.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to support on-time, on-budget delivery and high-quality results.
- Manage financial performance, implement risk controls, and ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and mentor engineering teams, supporting professional growth through development opportunities and performance evaluations.
- Present complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences in engaging, accessible ways.
- Promote sustainable design practices that support improved health outcomes and are grounded in current scientific research.
- Serve as Lead Engineer or Engineer of Record on key projects, ensuring technical excellence and accountability.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including experience designing hospitals from concept design through construction administration and systems commissioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering required.
- Experience leading project teams as a project manager or project director on medium- to large-scale projects.
- Proven leadership in mechanical design with a client-focused, collaborative approach.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas.
