Human Resource Associate — Volunteer

Location: Fully Remote — Work from Anywhere Employment Type: Volunteer | Part-time Duration: 6 months minimum (minimum 10 hours per week) Reports To: Head of People Operations

About the Role

The Human Resource Associate will support the development and day-to-day operations of the HR function, working closely with the Head of People Operations to implement HR processes, maintain accurate records, and build scalable people practices from the ground up in an early-stage, fully remote organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. HR Operations & Administration

  • Support day-to-day administration of HR activities and processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee and volunteer records; assist with HR documentation, letters, forms, and internal communications.
  • Support leave, attendance, and other HR administrative processes.
  • Respond to routine employee and candidate HR inquiries.

2. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Support end-to-end recruitment: publishing job descriptions, screening applications, coordinating interviews, and maintaining candidate pipelines.
  • Maintain recruitment records, update the ATS, and support onboarding and recruitment reporting.
  • Assist with employer branding and talent attraction initiatives.

3. Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Prepare onboarding documentation and checklists; coordinate onboarding activities and required HR documentation.
  • Support offboarding activities, including exit processes and record updates.

4. Volunteer Management

  • Support the volunteer management program: recruitment, screening, onboarding, engagement, tracking, communications, and recognition.

5. Employee Experience & Engagement

  • Assist with engagement activities, surveys, feedback collection, and virtual team-building.
  • Support internal HR communications and people-related announcements.

6. Performance & Development Support

  • Assist with administration of performance management, KPI/OKR tracking, performance reviews, and training/learning initiatives.

7. HR Systems & Process Improvement

  • Support implementation and maintenance of HRIS and ATS.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate HR processes.
  • Use Google Workspace and AI tools to improve productivity while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Document HR processes, SOPs, workflows, and guidelines.

8. HR Compliance & Documentation

  • Support maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Handle employee information with confidentiality; escalate compliance concerns appropriately.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree/diploma or relevant training in HR, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Management, or related field (preferred, not mandatory).
  • 1–3 years of experience in HR, People Operations, recruitment, or administration preferred; fresh graduates and early-career professionals encouraged to apply.
  • Basic understanding of HR operations, recruitment, employee lifecycle, and HR documentation.
  • Experience with ATS, HRIS, Google Workspace, Slack is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
