Build a Career That Helps Children Belong
Insighte Childcare is seeking thoughtful, dependable, and curious professionals to build careers in child psychology, special education, inclusive schooling, developmental support, and family-centred practice. As an Inclusive Learning Support Assistant, you will begin by supporting a child within a mainstream school setting. Your role will be to help identify and reduce barriers to the child's participation, learning, communication, regulation, and independence.
This is an active, structured, and supervised role, offering a pathway into professional child development practice. It combines direct experience, practical training, clinical guidance, and opportunities to work across both school and home environments.
About Insighte Childcare
Since 2016, Insighte Childcare has supported over 2,000 children and 1,000 families through school-based learning support, Homecare services, counselling, and clinical programmes. Our approach is child-first and neurodiversity-affirming, guided by these principles:
- Change the environment, not the child.
- Prioritise connection before correction.
- Build independence without fostering dependence.
We do not use shame, punishment, or forced compliance. Instead, we collaborate with children, families, and schools to understand individual strengths, communication styles, support needs, and environmental barriers.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Support Meaningful School Participation
You will provide consistent one-to-one support to an assigned child at one of our partner schools. Key responsibilities include:
- Building a safe, respectful, and trusting relationship with the child.
- Facilitating participation in classroom activities, routines, and peer interactions.
- Implementing Individualised Education Plan (IEP) goals under professional guidance.
- Identifying sensory, communication, learning, social, and environmental barriers.
- Utilising visual supports, structured teaching strategies, and appropriate accommodations.
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and functional independence.
- Collaborating professionally with teachers, families, and the Insighte clinical team.
- Gradually reducing prompts as the child gains confidence and independence.
- Promptly raising safeguarding, wellbeing, or service concerns.
Observe, Document, and Review Progress
Effective support requires more than just presence. You will be expected to:
- Complete accurate daily session logs.
- Record meaningful observations on participation, regulation, and independence.
- Contribute to progress reports, IEP reviews, and case discussions.
- Attend supervision, training, and review meetings.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with case managers, teachers, and families.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards.
Progress into Supervised Homecare Practice
Upon completing required training and demonstrating readiness, you will be assigned supervised Homecare duties, providing child development support within the child's home environment. Homecare work may involve:
- Supporting communication, play, and social development goals.
- Assisting with emotional regulation and executive functioning.
- Developing daily-living and functional independence skills.
- Implementing developmental and learning activities.
- Collaborating with families and applying practical home-based strategies.
- Contributing to progress documentation and clinical reviews.
Applicants must be open to both school-based and Homecare work as part of this professional pathway. Homecare allocations are based on demonstrated competency, availability, location, travel feasibility, client requirements, and professional fit. Each eligible assignment is compensated separately.
A Typical Working Day
Most working days begin at your assigned partner school, following the school's operating hours. You will support the child during classroom activities and routines, collaborate with the teacher as needed, and complete session documentation. On scheduled days, you may also attend supervision, training, case reviews, or a Homecare session after school hours. Specific school details, timings, travel expectations, and assignment requirements will be discussed before finalisation. Insighte aims to consider residential location and travel feasibility when assigning cases, wherever operationally possible.
Training and Professional Supervision
Insighte provides comprehensive training and ongoing professional supervision in areas such as:
- Autism, ADHD, and developmental differences.
- Neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based practice.
- Child observation and support planning.
- Individualised Education Plans (IEPs).
- Inclusive classroom accommodations.
- TEACCH-informed structured teaching.
- Communication and emotional regulation strategies.
- Play, executive functioning, and daily-living skills.
- Parent and teacher collaboration techniques.
- Clinical documentation and report writing.

Your professional growth will be supported through case discussions, observation, structured feedback, and practical assignments.
