Overview
As an IT Project Financial Analyst II, you will provide project and portfolio financial management—including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting—across a portfolio of IT projects. Working as part of a central, funding-aligned team, you will independently own the financial picture for assigned projects and partner closely with PMO leaders, project managers, and Finance so project managers can focus on delivery. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone fluent in project financials who is comfortable turning data into clear, decision-ready reporting.
Responsibilities
- Consult on budgets, monthly forecasts, estimate-at-completion forecasts, and cash-flow or spend curves for assigned IT projects.
- Analyze project financial performance by tracking actuals against plan, identifying variances, and providing insights and recommendations to project managers and stakeholders.
- Manage the analysis of multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records for complex workflows.
- Support the Project Change Request (PCR) process by evaluating and quantifying the financial impacts, risks, and funding requirements associated with proposed changes.
- Partner with Finance on capital-versus-expense classification, capitalization activities, funding requests, accruals, and the monthly close process.
- Monitor project financial risks, trends, and performance indicators; proactively escalate concerns and recommend mitigation strategies for PMO and IT leadership.
- Maintain financial reports, dashboards, and supporting documentation to uphold data integrity and reporting standards.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of project financial data throughout the project lifecycle while adhering to PMO governance.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma/GED with equivalent experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related major.
- Minimum of two years of experience in project financial analysis, FP&A, cost analysis, or project controls.
- Demonstrated experience owning budgets and forecasts for a portfolio of projects.
- Working knowledge of project-accounting concepts, including capital-versus-expense classification, capitalization, and estimate-at-completion forecasting.
- Experience with enterprise ERP or project-accounting systems such as Oracle or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and hands-on experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI.
- Familiarity with AI-powered productivity and analytics tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, is a plus.
Other Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across PMO, IT, and Finance.
- Self-directed and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, Teams, and SharePoint, as well as Power BI.
- Familiarity with and application of the project life cycle.
