About the opportunity
Our client is an established boutique law firm with a broad civil litigation practice. The associate will work on commercial and business disputes, estate and trust controversies, employment matters, and other civil litigation, with meaningful responsibility for written advocacy, discovery, hearings, and trial preparation.

Must-haves

• 2+ years of litigation experience
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active Illinois Bar admission
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Professional, responsive, and client-centered approach
• Initiative, ownership, and leadership-focused qualities

Key responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation filings
• Conduct research and help develop case strategy
• Manage discovery and case-development workstreams
• Prepare for hearings, depositions, and trial
• Communicate with clients and keep matters moving
• Own deadlines, organization, and follow-through
• Lead assignments appropriate to experience

Strong pluses

• Depth in commercial or business litigation
• Exposure to trust, estate, or employment disputes
• Courtroom, hearing, or deposition experience
• Trial preparation or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) exposure
