Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Maintenance Technician I to provide mechanical and electrical support for components, systems, and subsystems within a dairy processing and manufacturing plant. This role supports reliable operations by performing repairs, replacements, adjustments, and facility maintenance as directed.
Location: Tempe Milk Plant, 1115 W Alameda Drive, Tempe, AZ 85282
Schedule: 4:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m., four 10-hour shifts, Sunday through Wednesday. Thursday through Saturday off.
- Assignment extension: Possible
- Conversion to full-time employment: Possible, depending on performance
Required Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment; food manufacturing experience preferred
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles related to plant operations
- Knowledge of homogenizers, blow molds, and electrical distribution systems (480V/60Hz/three-phase); welding experience is a plus
- Ability to use tools and techniques with limited supervision
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, plant drawings, and schematics
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Desired Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- General knowledge of plant equipment, including boiler operations, fluid heat exchangers, inventory and storage control, refrigeration cooling systems, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, air compressor operations, electrical distribution, electrical and electronic controls, and welding operations
- Knowledge and understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough walkthroughs and assessments of equipment during operation and shutdown, as well as during preventive maintenance activities
- Perform routine mechanical and electrical equipment repairs as required
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment as required
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning and out-of-service equipment
- Provide mechanical assistance to plant operators with equipment troubleshooting and repairs as needed
- Monitor and maintain plant systems and subsystems to support equipment operation as required
- Be available to work shifts as directed to meet staffing requirements
