The Microsoft Fabric Developer designs, builds, and optimizes end-to-end data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including Data Factory, Lakehouse, Synapse Data Engineering, Power BI, and OneLake. The role supports enterprise analytics, operational reporting, AMI and utility data pipelines, ERP integrations, and cross-platform modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Data engineering and Lakehouse development: Build and maintain Lakehouse structures, Delta tables, and medallion architectures. Develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2, and Synapse Data Engineering. Implement bronze-to-silver-to-gold data models and optimize OneLake storage, partitioning, and performance.
  • Integration and automation: Integrate Fabric with ERP systems, AMI systems, IoT platforms, and legacy databases. Build ingestion pipelines using REST APIs, ODBC/JDBC, Event Streams, and connectors. Automate workflows with Fabric pipelines, triggers, and CI/CD practices.
  • Analytics and Power BI: Develop semantic models, datasets, and Power BI reports aligned with business KPIs. Use Direct Lake, DirectQuery, and Import modes according to performance needs. Collaborate with business teams on dashboards for operations, finance, supply chain, and field services.
  • Governance, security, and compliance: Implement governance through Purview, including lineage, classification, and access policies. Enforce RBAC, workspace security, and row- and column-level security. Support applicable utility, public-sector, and cybersecurity standards, including NIST, CIS, and NERC CIP.
  • Performance optimization and monitoring: Tune pipelines, queries, and Lakehouse structures for high-volume AMI and IoT workloads. Monitor Fabric workloads and troubleshoot ingestion failures, refresh issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaboration and delivery: Work with data architects, business analysts, ERP teams, and utility operations. Translate business requirements into scalable Fabric solutions and support Agile delivery, sprint planning, and release management.

Required skills and attributes

  • Strong Microsoft Fabric experience, including Data Factory, Lakehouse, Synapse, and Power BI.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
  • Experience with Azure services such as ADLS, ADF, Databricks, Functions, and Key Vault.
  • Understanding of medallion architecture, data modeling, and semantic modeling.
  • Experience with CI/CD using Azure DevOps or GitHub and familiarity with Purview for governance and lineage.
  • Knowledge of utility, AMI, SCADA, or DER data models; ERP integration (including Oracle Utilities, Oracle ERP, ESRI GIS, and ADMS/OMS); and IoT ingestion patterns such as MQTT, Event Hubs, and streaming.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and attention to detail. Ability to translate technical concepts into business value and work in fast-moving, multi-vendor environments.

Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, and Power BI Data Analyst certifications are preferred.
