Senior Executive Compensation Consultant

Role Overview

Mercer is seeking a Senior Consultant specializing in Executive Compensation and Total Rewards to join its Career team. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of comprehensive executive compensation and total rewards programs, including short- and long-term incentive plan design, executive pay strategy, broader employee compensation programs, and other total rewards initiatives.

You will provide strategic advice to organizations seeking to align compensation and rewards programs with business objectives and talent goals in dynamic and competitive markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage client engagements focused on executive compensation strategy, pay benchmarking, incentive plan design, and pay structure modernization.
  • Develop and execute business development initiatives to grow Mercer's Rewards presence in key United States markets.
  • Use AI and technology-enabled tools to enhance consulting work.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor to HR and business leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design integrated total rewards solutions for complex client needs.
  • Advise clients across industries and ownership structures on executive pay considerations.
  • Oversee project teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality recommendations and presentations.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in compensation and total rewards.
  • Mentor and develop consulting talent while promoting continuous learning and excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience delivering executive compensation or total rewards solutions.
  • Ability to lead sales, manage project delivery, and nurture client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in compensation program design for executives and/or broader employee populations.
  • Proven success in achieving sales goals and managing multifaceted projects.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and governance frameworks affecting compensation programs.
  • Experience with market-facing activities, such as conference presentations.
