Overview
The Storeroom Attendant is an individual contributor working at a customer site. This role supports daily receiving, stocking, issuing, and cycle counting of customer and/or Vallen inventory while maintaining a professional, clean, and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload, receive, inspect, and put away incoming products, goods, tools, and equipment.
- Check shipments for damage and discrepancies against invoices.
- Sort, label, move, and store inventory on racks, shelves, and bins according to established product codes, sizes, styles, or other sequences.
- Issue tools, goods, products, and equipment to site employees and maintain accurate issue and return records.
- Enter inventory data into computerized systems and retrieve information related to stock levels, delivery schedules, and other inquiries.
- Document inventory discrepancies and seek management guidance on corrective actions.
- Request replenishment and assist with maintaining inventory levels.
- Perform cycle counts, prepare inventory reports, and maintain periodic or perpetual inventory records.
- Inspect and measure tools and equipment for defects, wear, or damage, and report issues to supervisors.
- Deliver tools and equipment to work locations and investigate lost or misplaced equipment and safety supplies.
- Perform minor repairs, servicing, or lubrication of tools and equipment as required.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 3 months of relevant experience and/or training.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- Experience or aptitude in warehouse activities, including loading, unloading, picking, packing, and moving goods.
- Forklift or cherry-picker experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic computer and tablet proficiency; familiarity with MS Office, Vista, Control, SX.e, or Prophet 21 is preferred.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages.
- Strong communication, customer service, teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and safely in a warehouse environment.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing.
- Regular lifting of up to 40 lbs; may handle inventory weighing 25 lbs or more with assistance in accordance with safety procedures.
- Steel-toe shoes are required; other protective equipment may be required.
- The worksite is not temperature-controlled and may become hot during the summer.
- Ability to use close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision.
- May need to obtain forklift and/or warehouse-equipment certifications.
- Overtime, evening, weekend, rotating shifts, and short-notice schedule changes may be required.
