Storeroom Attendant

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan 49001
Employment: Contract, with the possibility of temp-to-hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid break

Position overview

This individual contributor role is based at a customer facility. Responsibilities include receiving, stocking, issuing, and cycle-counting customer and/or Vallen inventory while maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area.

Duties

• Collect empty bins from the production line, refill them with parts such as rivets, screws, and bolts, and return the full bins to the line.
• Use a scanner to issue parts and help put items away in the storeroom or on the facility floor.
• Receive and put away incoming goods, tools, and equipment; check deliveries for damage or discrepancies.
• Sort, label, move, and store items in designated racks, shelves, and bins.
• Issue items to site employees and maintain accurate records of issued and returned inventory.
• Enter and retrieve inventory data, document discrepancies, request replenishment, and assist with cycle counts and inventory reports.
• Inspect tools and equipment for wear or damage; deliver and locate equipment and, when required, maintain or repair it.
• Perform other related duties as requested.

Qualifications

• At least 3 months of relevant experience and/or training.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Warehouse experience in loading, unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods is relevant.
• Ability to read work orders, safety rules, and procedural documents; basic computer and math skills; attention to detail; safety awareness; communication and customer service skills; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical and dress requirements

The role involves frequent walking around the facility and occasional lifting of up to 50 lb. Steel-toe shoes are required, and long hair must be tied back. Wear long pants and a T-shirt or polo; sweatpants and drawstrings are not allowed. The facility has heat in winter but no air conditioning in summer.
