Position Purpose

Direct plant production activities to produce quality products at the lowest possible cost and in accordance with company schedules and policies while maintaining a safe work environment. Assist in ensuring that food-safe, high-quality products meet or exceed all regulatory and legal requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the production department to ensure the production and shipment of quality products that fulfill customer requirements; monitor inventory daily.
  • Assist management in providing a safe and healthy work environment free of recognizable hazards.
  • Provide safety training, conduct safety inspections, follow up on work orders, and document required actions.
  • Control and effectively utilize production capacity, staffing, equipment, and outside resources through planning, organizing, and scheduling to minimize losses.
  • Work within the budget to optimize profitability and achieve a minimum production efficiency rating of 93%.
  • Maintain accurate staffing levels.
  • Select, train, and promote supervisory employees and provide effective department management.
  • Train supervisors on new equipment and keep them informed about process changes and food-safety requirements.
  • Participate in company planning through budget preparation, capital expenditure recommendations, workforce forecasting, and space forecasting.
  • Continuously seek process improvements and monitor documentation in accordance with McDonald’s and USDA regulations.
  • Review shift production reports daily and provide feedback on issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate communication between shifts and departments regarding quality, food safety, waste management, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Work with maintenance to improve equipment utilization and productivity.
  • Provide leadership and feedback to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Meat Science or Business preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience with progressive managerial responsibilities.
  • Must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Primarily requires walking and standing on a level surface for extended periods.
  • May require sitting, reaching, filing, storing materials, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is primarily performed on a production floor in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, loud noise, and production equipment.
  • Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection, may be required.
