About the Role

We are seeking an engineer with strong quality judgment and hands-on experience with preference data and rubric creation. You will help define evaluation standards, support data workflows, and communicate technical findings clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

  • Design, refine, and iterate on rubrics and evaluation criteria for preference data.
  • Review and label data to a high-quality standard, identifying subtle issues.
  • Build and maintain pipelines and infrastructure that support data generation, collection, and evaluation workflows.
  • Synthesize findings from data work into clear write-ups, updates, and recommendations for the team.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate qualitative judgment into scalable processes.

Required Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience with Python or TypeScript, particularly building and maintaining pipelines and infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with preference data collection and/or rubric creation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill technical work into clear, actionable summaries.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to articulate quality criteria.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience contributing to or navigating large codebases, such as VS Code.

Engagement Details

  • Commitment: At least 4 hours per day and a minimum of 20 hours per week, including 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.
  • Employment Type: Contractor assignment; medical benefits and paid leave are not included.
  • Duration: 3 months.
  • Location: Fully remote within North America.
