Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical/Psychiatric Nurse (Med/Psych RN) to join our multidisciplinary team. You will provide patient-centered care to people with complex medical and psychiatric needs, collaborate with healthcare team members, and help implement and monitor care plans. This position requires 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.

Key Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process, critical thinking, and professional judgment to provide comprehensive care for assigned patients.
• Assess patient needs, monitor vital signs, and gather histories to identify medical and psychiatric concerns.
• Plan and delegate patient care tasks to ancillary personnel based on patient assessments.
• Administer psychiatric and medical treatments, including medications, and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to support integrated care.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
• Advocate for patients’ access to appropriate medical and psychiatric services.
• Participate in patient rounds and multidisciplinary discussions about treatment and care planning.
• Provide crisis intervention and support during behavioral health events, promoting a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Coordinate discharge planning, address patient and family needs, and communicate progress with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree from a professional nursing program (required)
• BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program (preferred)

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
