About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to support attorneys in a respected Cleveland law office. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who understands Ohio workers’ compensation procedures and can independently manage claims, filings, and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare workers’ compensation claims for administrative hearings.
- Draft pleadings, claim summaries, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Request, organize, and review medical records.
- Coordinate independent medical examinations and prepare summary correspondence.
- Monitor case activity, filing requirements, and critical deadlines.
- Submit documents electronically to courts and administrative agencies.
- Proofread filings for accuracy and compliance with applicable rules.
- Assist with depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, medical providers, and outside parties.
- Identify potential issues and escalate them appropriately.
Qualifications
- At least three years of paralegal experience in a law firm or other legal setting.
- Working knowledge of Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and Industrial Commission of Ohio procedures.
- Paralegal certificate, related degree, or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, analytical, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and complete time-sensitive assignments.
- Sound judgment and a proactive approach to attorney support.
