This position reports to the Technical Accounting & External Reporting leadership team and works closely with the Corporate Controller organization.
What You’ll Do
- Research and evaluate the accounting impact of significant new or non-recurring transactions that may materially affect the company’s financial statements. Document conclusions in well-supported technical accounting memos, subject to review by the Head of Financial Reporting and SOX PMO.
- Monitor and assess new and emerging accounting pronouncements (ASUs) and SEC guidance. Maintain the company’s accounting policies and lead the implementation of significant changes, leveraging Big 4 accounting research tools and training.
- Prepare comprehensive technical accounting analyses and memos covering areas such as revenue (ASC 606), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842), EPS, debt, equity, and investments.
- Serve as the technical accounting reviewer and approver in the Chart of Accounts creation and maintenance process, ensuring account mappings and financial statement alignments are accurate and adhere to internal standards.
- Support the preparation and review of workpapers underlying Form 10-Q and Form 10-K filings, including areas such as EPS, stock-based compensation, and other non-routine transactions.
- Manage and maintain key SOX controls within your areas of responsibility. Collaborate with external auditors on walkthroughs and requests, and ensure thorough, audit-ready documentation.
- Partner with the compensation team to forecast stock-based compensation expenses.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and business teams to evaluate the accounting and reporting implications of new transactions and strategic initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; active CPA required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant Big 4 public accounting experience. Technical accounting or national office experience is a plus.
- Strong, current knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, with demonstrated ability to research technical issues and write clear, well-supported position papers and memos.
- Proven experience with technical accounting areas such as stock-based compensation (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842), revenue (ASC 606), debt, and business combinations.
- Public company experience and a working understanding of SOX internal controls and the external audit process.
- Fintech or SaaS industry experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite and/or Oracle and Workiva is preferred; advanced Excel skills are essential.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional partnering skills; comfortable operating in a fast-paced financial close environment with a high degree of ownership and autonomy.
