About the Role:

This is a hands-on leadership role for a Technical Team Lead with deep expertise in Vue.js, Node.js, and B2B e-commerce platforms. You will drive technical excellence by writing, reviewing, and merging production code, ensuring high code quality for the India team, and debugging across the full stack. You will provide technical guidance, design solutions for new modules, and define MongoDB data models. Key responsibilities also include reviewing Node.js service designs, evaluating build-vs-buy decisions for third-party services, and ensuring platform stability and performance. A significant part of this role involves hands-on use of AI coding tools and spec-driven development, evaluating AI output, and mentoring the team in these practices, including working with LLM APIs, embeddings, and semantic search.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Development

• Write, review, and merge production code across the Vue.js frontend and Node.js backend.
• Drive code quality for the India team by establishing review standards and addressing technical debt.
• Debug across the full stack—from Vue rendering issues to MongoDB aggregations to Kubernetes pod issues.
• Provide technical guidance on daily development decisions and resolve complex challenges.
• Design solutions for new modules, from specifications and schemas to API contracts and implementation.
• Define and optimize MongoDB data models, including document structure, embedding versus referencing, and indexing strategies.
• Review Node.js service design, including API structure, error handling, validation, authentication, rate limiting, and background processing.
• Evaluate and document build-vs-buy decisions for third-party services, considering cost and integration effort.
• Ensure the stability and performance of the live, revenue-generating platform.

AI & Development Practices

• Actively use AI coding tools and spec-driven development practices.
• Assess AI output quality and determine appropriate use cases for AI assistance.
• Set up and maintain repository-level context files and ensure the team's AI setup is consistent.
• Mentor the team on AI tools and support high-quality output.
• Work with LLM APIs, embeddings, and semantic search, and understand where AI features can help.

Agile & Delivery Management

• Run sprint planning, estimation, stand-ups, and retrospectives for the India team.
• Break requirements into technical tasks with clear acceptance criteria.
• Monitor team velocity and proactively identify delays or blockers.
• Coordinate releases, including deployment planning, rollback strategies, and post-release monitoring.

Team Leadership & Communication

• Lead and manage 6–10 engineers across web, mobile, and QA, conducting 1:1s, providing feedback, managing performance, and supporting professional growth.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and help them develop into senior roles.
• Participate in hiring through technical screening, interviews, and onboarding.
• Ensure consistency in engineering practices, including documentation, testing, branching, and incident handling.
• Act as the main technical point of contact between the India team and product and business stakeholders at the UAE office.
• Communicate status, risks, trade-offs, and time costs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bridge the time-zone gap with structured overlap hours, written updates, and asynchronous documentation.
• Drive technical delivery for key modules such as product catalog, pricing, ordering, workflows, order management, payments, invoicing, and vendor onboarding.

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience as a hands-on Technical Team Lead, with expertise in Vue.js, Node.js, AI-assisted development, and B2B e-commerce.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years leading a team of 5 or more engineers.
• Strong, current, hands-on Vue.js experience, including component architecture, state management, and performance optimization.
• Strong, current, hands-on Node.js and Express experience developing production APIs at scale.
• Deep MongoDB experience, including aggregation pipelines, index design, query performance tuning, and schema decisions.
• AWS experience, particularly Kubernetes/EKS, including deployments, resource limits, health probes, and production monitoring.
• Working understanding of Flutter, including widget architecture, state management, platform channels, and Play Store/App Store release pipelines.
• Demonstrated professional use of AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI).
• Experience with spec-driven development, including writing structured requirements and design documents and reviewing AI-generated output against acceptance criteria.
• Experience setting up and maintaining repository-level context files, rules files, and custom commands for AI development.
• Git and CI/CD experience, including branching strategy, review workflow, and automated pipelines.
• Experience leading and managing engineers through 1:1s, feedback, performance management, and career development; mentoring mid-to-senior-level engineers; and participating in hiring.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to manage time-zone differences through structured overlap and asynchronous documentation while collaborating with the UAE office.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Background in B2B e-commerce, wholesale/distribution, or marketplace platforms.
• Preferred: Experience as the offshore technical counterpart to an overseas leadership team.
• Preferred: Experience integrating LLM APIs into a production product.
• Preferred: Exposure to observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or Sentry, and to analytics instrumentation.
• Preferred: Experience with payment gateways, e-signature, logistics APIs, mapping, and geolocation integrations.

Additional Information:

• Full-time role based at the development centre in Bangalore, India.
• This hands-on leadership position requires a significant contribution to the codebase.
• Product direction and business stakeholders are based at the UAE office; engineering execution is based at the India development centre.
• AI-assisted and spec-driven development are core to the company's engineering process.
