Overview
The Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Coordinator I is an individual contributor responsible for delivering, setting up, stocking, and maintaining inventory at customer-designated sites. This role performs physical and administrative tasks related to storage, distribution, order fulfillment, inventory counting, and product replenishment at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy of shipments delivered to customers.
- Pick up materials from Vallen's warehouse or distribution center and deliver, set up, and stock products at customer sites.
- Assist the onsite Vallen team with moving materials to point-of-use (POU) areas and loading vending machines.
- Stock cabinets and customer-designated inventory areas.
- Set up customer-designated spaces for receiving and storing materials.
- Track customer orders from warehouse pickup through delivery and setup.
- Take customer spot-buy orders as needed and relay details to the Customer Service Representative (CSR) or Account Representative (AR).
- Recommend inventory-level changes based on customer usage.
- Scan barcodes at customer locations to generate customer orders.
- Ensure barcode labels are current, legible, and suitable for scanner use; notify management when replacements are needed.
- Monitor minimum and maximum inventory levels, reorder points, and reorder quantities, and report observations to management.
- Assist with annual inventory and cycle counts of consigned inventory.
- Maintain VMI point-of-use areas using 5S practices.
- Follow local VMI processes and equipment-use guidelines.
- Keep equipment, work areas, and machines clean and safe, and report concerns to management.
- Communicate professionally with clients, customers, coworkers, and management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least one year of relevant warehouse, inventory counting, or delivery experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- Ability to learn and complete semi-routine assignments.
- Ability to work effectively under supervision.
- Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately and on time.
- Proactive, positive, team-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with customers, coworkers, and management.
- Willingness to learn company products and represent Vallen professionally.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
Work Conditions and Dress Code
- Steel-toe shoes are required.
- Dress code includes jeans or khakis with a work-appropriate T-shirt or polo shirt.
